Out of my cocoon

It is an almost pretty morning here in the pacific northwest. There is a streak of blue on the horizon so I’m hopeful for some sun today. Yesterday was cold! I went to Yard n’ Garden Land in Vancouver yesterday to try and find another rose bush for my soon to be rose garden. I think I must be crazy. I bought 5 roses (actually 6 counting a climber) from Tsugawa nursery in Woodland and haven’t grown roses in forever. I hope I don’t kill them too quickly! But, I love to garden and have been holding off for some reason. Maybe it’s a good thing because we had to paint our house last year and many of the plants have over-spray and some got trampled. Anyway, I was laying out the bed and just couldn’t get 5 to work thus the trip to another nursery. They had so many I couldn’t decided. I stood there for a good 20 minutes then my sister texted me about something so I roped her into helping me. Thanks to her help I was able to make up my mind. I was going to buy a red one and a white one. I don’t even like red roses but I thought, you know, red is what roses are famous for. After talking to my sister I realized this is my garden so I should plant what I want! I’m soooo excited! We are going to be tearing up an expanse of lawn to do this. It has taken quite a lot of talking to get my husband to see it will work. I think it will be beautiful.

Abraham Darby English Rose

This is one of the 7 (Yikes!) roses for my new garden. This one is a David Austin rose. Click on the picture and it will take you to his website.

More later. I’m off to Tsugawa and maybe Home Depot for the planting supplies.
