The Eagle’s Find Story

I have often though about changing the name to reflect my jewelry but now that I’m doing so many things I’m glad I haven’t.

Eagle’s Find Eclectic is where you will find all kinds of jewelry, glass and natural stone arts. Eagle’s Find Fiber is just that, for fiber arts.  I hope you will find something interesting in the pages of my website including my blog. I never though I’d be doing one of those but I’m giving it a go. I hope also to share some stories and anecdotes about my life as a Navy wife and what it is like to move more times than I’d like to remember.

Please check back often to see what’s new.

Thanks for visiting!

How Eagle’s Find came to be

Yes, I know. Eagle’s Find is a strange name for a business but I’ve had it so long now it is a part of me. The name came about after attending an adult leader training class called “Cub Scout Trainer Woodbadge”. All of the participants are separated into groups of no more than 8 people called “dens”. Remember, this is Scout lingo. This group is your family for a very intense week of training. They become very special to you. My den was the Eagle Den and once you are assigned to a den you identify with that name from then on. I know it sounds really corny but that training changed my life. I learned so much about people and teaching and about myself that those lessons still affect me today.

During the week we had to come up with a flag and what is called a totem. The totem represents your den. Our totem was/is very simple. I love it! (Partly because I helped to design it but mostly because it is so simple.) This is the original totem.

When I started my business in 1990, I knew I wanted to use my den name and incorporated my totem in my logo. It meant that much to me. So, here is the business logo I designed based on my totem.

Originally I wanted to put the word “Eagle’s” on top of the feather and the second half of the name on the 4 hash marks below so I searched for a word that would fill the bill that had only 4 letters. The word “find” fit perfectly. Used as a verb – ” to come upon by chance”. Used as a noun, “something found; a discovery, especially a valuable or gratifying one.” It covers a lot of bases!

Even though I have been out of Scouting for years, I decided to keep my business name and logo. Since my name doesn’t describe anything in particular (like my jewelry business) it has worked out well. Now I have a “myriad of multifarious métiers”. In other words, I make, sell and enjoy a myriad of arts and crafts.
